9th March will be Covid Day of Reflection

By the end of February 2020 there had been 23 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the UK, but it wasn’t until 5th March that the virus claimed its first recorded UK victim. Over the following few weeks our normal lives were more and more disrupted by the rapidly spreading pandemic, and before the end of March churches and other places of worship were closed, as were libraries, non-essential shops and pubs, and everyone was ordered to stay at home in order to slow the spread of the virus.

Sunday 9th March is the Day of Reflection across the UK for the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is an opportunity to come together to remember those who lost their lives since the pandemic began and to honour the tireless work and acts of kindness shown during this unprecedented time.

You are welcome to come into St John’s to remember the time of Covid and those lost to Covid.

Following the usual 11am Sunday Service St John’s will remain open until 4pm for you to:

Add a pebble to our heart of hope…

Light a candle…

Say a prayer…

Sit in peace…
