One Church Hub Coordinator – Part-time role – 16 hours per week
We are looking for an organised, people-focused Community Hub Coordinator to support the smooth running of three community hubs operating across the week in different city centre church-based locations in Peterborough. This rewarding part-time role offers the opportunity to work alongside volunteers, church teams and partner organisations which provide safe, inclusive and effective support for local people, while helping to build a stronger, more joined-up service across the hubs.
In particular, you will be helping to implement the new Crisis Resilience Fund support across the new One Church Hub, supporting Crisis Payment Scheme applications.
Since November 2022, St John’s Church in the City Centre, St Mark’s Church in Lincoln Road and Park Road Baptist Church, have each been Community Support Hubs offering welcome, food and advice to people in need of support and working with the City Council, the Light Project Peterborough and other local agencies and Hubs.
In 2026, the new Crisis Resilience Funding (CRF) is being made available as preventative support and St John’s, St Mark’s and Park Road Hubs are joining together as the ‘One Church Hub’ working as one of the new City Council CRF Community Partners. We will still be based across all three churches but working together to provide a joined-up approach.
We’re looking for someone who:
-
- Is highly organised and able to manage activity across multiple sites
- Enjoys working with volunteers and supporting them to thrive
- Understands safeguarding and basic health & safety requirements
- Can build warm, positive relationships with a wide range of people
- Is confident using IT and collecting simple monitoring data
- Is proactive, reliable, and committed to inclusive community work
Experience in community projects, volunteer coordination, or similar roles is desirable but not essential if you bring the right skills and attitude.
As the One Church Hub Coordinator, you’ll work 16 hours per week (0.4), including occasional evenings/weekends. You’ll be supported by the Head of Operations at St John’s Church as line manager, plus the One Church Hub Partnership Group as a steering group.
Salary: £15 per hour, £12,480 pa (fte £31,200)

Volunteering at St John’s & St Luke’s
There are one off events and regular activities on several days of the week at our churches where volunteers can get involved in supporting the community, meeting others, increasing their skills, sharing their experience and becoming part of a wonderful family of people who enjoy what they do and are happy to help.
If this sounds interesting check out our page on GoVip, where there are usually a number of opportunities for volunteers. The page is regularly updated throughout the year and you can apply for any of the advertised roles via the page. Alternatively, you can email the parish office – office@peterborough-stjohns.org.uk – to let us know you are interested in volunteering and the appropriate person will get in touch with you.
We follow Church of England guidance on safer recruitment for all vacancies, as detailed on page eleven of our Safeguarding Policy. As part of the application process for any role, you will be required to complete a confidential declaration form and appointment to some roles may be subject to a DBS check (if so this will be stated in the job or role description). Applications from ex-offenders will be considered fairly where appropriate. You can read our Policy on Recruitment of Ex-Offenders.
